I've become a GL convert myself, in my BC3000-II. But then I'm perfectly happy turning the pre on just before listening, I can't detect any warm up requirement, perhaps I'm just lucky in not being sensitive to the effect, or perhaps because the pre doesn't have one of those truly huge power supplies...

Another Bright Idea

So I was doing an upgrade of the capacitors in my Tannoy Arden speaker and had a bright idea for dampening ... worked great!

Strictly hush-hush but the pic gives a hint ... think I'm going to go for a patent!

I've been rubbing so much my knobs are aching!

OK, what I'm talking about is the knobs on my BC3000-II :D :D 8) :D :D I noticed the volume knobs are have been used so much the the cherry stain is getting worn off, the natural color of the wood is starting to show in places! I ended up swapping the selector and volume knobs! ... hope I did...

The MOV devices are connected in parallel with the power line, not in series, so they don't "regulate" the flow of enegry/current. Further for normal voltages they present a very high impedance meaning they draw virtually no current whatsoever ... so basically they act as if they're no there at all....

Q1 Yes (although no protection is perfect as far as I know)

Q2 No ... at least I wasn't under the impression the Yalu Balula (which uses standard Metal oxide varistors/MOV devices for spike suppression if not mistaken) had any impact on a system's dynamics.

Jim McShane has a sale on Genalex GL 6922 for $29.95. I picked up a bunch myself. Yeah I got some of those as well, very nice tube ... Actually after I had moved and gotten the system in a larger room I discovered that Amperex 6922 USA tubes worked much better that the JAN 6922 I had been using. I ...
