The BC3 MKII and BC3000 MKII Dual Mono Linestage Tube Preamplifiers.
About ten years ago the original BC3 preamplifier was introduced . It came supplied with a small outboard power supply called the BCG3. Sometime later a vastly superior and more costly power supply was developed. It was designated the BCG3.1. The BC3 with the smaller power supply became the BC3 Despina and the BC3 with the larger power supply the BC3 Galatea. Finally the BC3000 was born as a result of some significant upgrades to the main chassis.
The result was a family of three preamplifiers and a clear upgrade path from the least expensive to the top of the line. You could start with the BC3 Despina and as funds became available you could simply trade in the small power supply against the BCG3.1 power supply plus the upgrade cost. The upgrade to the BC3000 involved returning the main chassis for a complete rebuild.while retaining the BCG3.1 power supply.
With the advent of the MKII series the upgrade path remains the same.
Existing BC3 and BC3000 preamplifiers can be upgraded to MKII performance specs.

We call it an upgrade but it is really a complete rebuild of the preamp. Click here for photos of an original BC3000 and the rebuilt to MKII version.
*Note: Mark I and Mark II components are not compatible. For example, using a Mark II power supply with a Mark I preamp will result in significant damage which is not covered by warranty.
